Moultrie has sold a number of these units and I finally had the opportunity recently to give you a real field test and see how it compares to other cameras on the market.
The Good Points
One thing that this camera can say is that as many products Moultrie before it is easy to use. Instructions and Controls make sense and are easy to follow. Not a big problem if you use a lot of different cameras, but most people are buying one of they only have one and not want to invest a lot of time thinking about how to use it.
The Moultrie Game Watcher now has an LCD screen showing status information as the shape of remaining battery life and more memory is available for image capture.
The not-so-good points
There are actually a couple of things that Moultrie could work with this camera. First, the image quality is not as good. In the literature includes mentions that you can use as a personal camera. I really can not see anyone doing this, as many cell phones to take pictures that are almost the same quality. This is not exactly small, so in reality there is no hope of putting it in your pocket. Do not think of taking one of these in your holiday to take pictures of the family. That's just what this is for.
The Moultrie Game Watcher 100 runs in a 6 volt battery. This battery will last about three weeks, with intervals of normal shot. Whether the reduction of the energy of the uses of the camera or by increasing the storage capacity of the battery This needs to be improved. Many people will go out of the camera for over three weeks, or is absent for more than that and did not want the camera to stop taking photos because it is out of power. A standard 6-volt alkaline will about 150 images. This could be a little higher, especially because most SD cards place just a little more than that.
Trigger time could be shortened in this unit. Other cameras have Moultrie trip times and this does not help in the success rate of their shots. Too often I have seen pictures of deer out with this camera. Quality I would estimate that overall about 40% of the pictures were good, the rest were blurry, washed or simply not get a good shot the animal.
One of the things this camera does not have a screen to view the photos you've taken. Before there were cameras in this way do not really lose it, but now that I have used that I can not say there's no turning back. It would be a great addition to this camera to add this feature.
Overall, the camera is not that bad. This is a level camera and if you are looking to enter the market with a very low cost and get a basic unit remains a good bet. This camera would be a good choice if you are setting up on public lands. If you are looking for more functionality Check out the models Moultrie Game Spy.
